Caution as Storm Boelo brings flood risk to Gwynedd Maldwyn
Siân Gwenllian MS urges caution as Storm Boelo brings flood risk to Gwynedd Maldwyn
Siân Gwenllian MS has urged residents across Gwynedd Maldwyn to take care as Storm Boelo brings heavy rainfall and a risk of flooding, particularly where high tides coincide with adverse weather conditions.
Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected. Flood warnings are in place for the North Gwynedd catchment, from Abergwyngregyn to Aberdaron, the Glaslyn and Dwyryd catchment, from Dyffryn Ardudwy to Nant Gwynant, and the Llŷn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay coastline.
Siân said:
“Please take care, particularly on beaches, coastal footpaths, roads and low-lying land near rivers and estuaries. Conditions can change quickly, so please follow official advice and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
“I urge everyone to check their flood risk and sign up for Natural Resources Wales’ free flood warning service. Being prepared can make a real difference. Communities should also consider developing local flood plans.
“The Welsh Government is investing in flood defences and natural flood management, and improving preparedness. But the climate crisis is increasing the risks we face, making it essential that we continue to strengthen our defences and help communities prepare.”
